Nurturing participants' sense of importance and accomplishment through collective challenges and opportunities to shine.

Positively nurturing attendees' self-esteem and sense of ego can inspire them to actively contribute their unique knowledge and ideas, enriching the diversity and wealth of perspectives shared at the event. Collaborative challenges that foster teamwork and a shared sense of accomplishment provide opportunities for individuals to shine through their contributions to the collective effort. The importance of boosting the participants self-esteem is represented through a LEGO® model where participants are working on a joint challenge, which allow them to connect and develop first-hand knowledge, while boosting their self-esteem and letting them shine.

However, self-esteem left unchecked can sometimes turn into narcissism which can become a barrier. For example, can some senior participants attempt to dominate the event's space and time, neglecting to connect with or care for others, and hindering diversity and inclusion. These "Egomaniacs" may resist change that could jeopardize their dominance, blocking the potential for surprise and transformation. To counteract these tendencies, event organisers can involve other respected experts willing to challenge the supremacy of any single voice, signalling that no one expert or perspective is all-encompassing, and that everyone's contributions are valued. Empowering "Event Ambassadors" from within the community to spread the event's vision, foster inclusion, and counteract egomania can also help safeguard the event experience. Event organisers and managers must develop a thick skin and resilience when dealing with challenging personalities, while remaining focused on creating an environment that celebrates collective achievement and allows all attendees to shine.
