Tour de France is coming to Denmark
The greatest cycling race in the world will be coming to Denmark when the first three stages of the Tour de France takes place in Denmark in juli 2021. The opening stage, the Grand Départ, will be hosted in Copenhagen on July 2nd 2021.
Denmark and capital Copenhagen will host the Grand Départ and two more stages of the 2021 edition of the Tour de France. The opening stage, the Grand Départ, will take place in the cycling-friendly capital featuring an approx. 13-kilometre time trial in central Copenhagen. The second Danish stage on July 3rd will feature an approx. 190-kilometre route from Roskilde to Nyborg across the spectacular Great Belt Bridge. The third stage will be an approx. 170-kilometre route from Vejle to Sønderborg on July 4th.
The Grand Départ will be organised by a partnership consisting of the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs and the municipalities of Copenhagen, Roskilde, Nyborg, Vejle and Sønderborg as stakeholders. The Capital region of Denmark and the regions of Zealand and Southern Denmark are financially contributing to the partnership.
Denmark officially submitted its bid for a Grand Départ in June 2016 with the slogan "The greatest cycling race in the world meets the best cycling city in the world".
