Copenhagen and the noma legacy
From comfort food to fine dining, Copenhagen is the city with the largest number of gastro offshoots of famed restaurant noma and Danish chef René Red...
For the second year in a row, a Copenhagen-based restaurant is enriched with the title as best restaurant in the world, yet again underlining Copenhagens position as one of the leading gastro destinations with some of the world’s best dining experiences.
Copenhagen's new nordic cuisine is once again at the top of The World's 50 Best Restaurants list. After noma reclaimed the title in 2021, Head Chef and co-owner Rasmus Kofoed's Geranium is awarded for the first time as the best restaurant in the world in the 2022-ranking. Copenhagen-based Alchemist (No. 58 in 2021, No. 18 in 2022) and the new entry Restaurant Jordnær (No. 38) also made it to the 2022 World's 50 Best list.
Geranium holds three stars in Guide Michelin Nordic Cities 2022 and is run by the world's best chef in 2011 Rasmus Kofoed, who was the first chef in Denmark to earn three Michelin stars, granted in 2016. Geranium's current menu 'The Summer Universe' is a three hour experience taking you through a range of courses from lightly salted mackerel, cold vegetable juice and smoked oil to an aroma of hackberry, wood sorrel and frozen ymer, which marks the beginning of the desserts.
World's 50 Best highlights Geranium's "meatless menu" in their description of the world's best restaurant, and the award comes just one day after Kofoed announced a 100% vegetarian pop-up, Angelika, in Mangholm, North of Copenhagen.

Besides Geranium, two other Copenhagen-based restaurants are also to be found on the list of the top 50 best restaurants in the world. These count the two Michelin starred Alchemist ranked No. 18 and the two Michelin starred Restaurant Jordnær, No. 38.
